Labeled Collage
Students can practice their fine motor skills while cutting out pictures and words from the books. Once they have cut out the items they want for their collage, you or a volunteer can check to ensure that the work has been done carefully.
Then, students can be given glue sticks and blank paper to finish their collages.
When students have finished their pieces, you might invite them to talk about their creations in an “Artist’s Chair” or with partners.
Discussing labelled collages offers an opportunity to use academic sentence frames such as:
“The theme I chose is ___.”
“I selected __ because __.”
“Something I appreciate about your work is __.”
